DOORWAYS OF CHANGE

DOORWAYS

There are moments in life where everything around us appears to be the same – we live in the same house, wake up in the same bed, see the same people, go to the same job, and yet everything feels different.

It’s almost like inhabiting two worlds at once – the one we know so well and the one that looks the same but feels entirely different because something in us has changed.

I like to call these doorway moments.

A little disconcerting, yes, as we stand on the threshold of change, and yet, we are already inhabiting the new. We are already in it, even if it feels like a piece of clothing that we haven’t yet grown into.

Doorways was the word whispering itself into my ear earlier this week, but in the midst of busy days, I was giving it no heed. Then we gathered for our monthly women’s circle and in listening to each woman there, I realised that all of us, in our own unique ways, were standing at the doorway of change.

For some, it was bringing fear of the unknown, while for others, a sense of excitement and trust. The precious moments of threshold that are often not easy but always a gift.

For me personally, when I move through these doorways, I also notice how my desire for food can change. My tastes may be unusual or habits altered, not necessarily for better or worse, just different. Sometimes old patterns that felt stuck or stale simply drop away, or a desire for food I rarely ate before somehow presents itself strongly, almost as necessity.

But this makes sense to me because I have changed. And my job is simply to listen, to become aware and to act on the inner knowing rising up within me, even if it feels unfamiliar.

I smile in the recognition that somehow food is always the mirror reflecting back what’s moving within me.

Food is alens through which I can understand myself, and life.

It is the constant relationship that cannot be avoided and that always tells the truth!

If you too find yourself at the doorway of change as we flow through this full moon week, can you get a sense of what life might be inviting you towards and what your relationship with food might be reflecting back?

Wishing you much love, health & happiness,
Rebecca
