FINDING STILLNESS AMIDST THE STORM

STORMS

When life gets stormy, the nervous system looks for stability. It reaches out for that which feels stable, secure and protective.

But very often, that means reverting to old patterns – the familiar ways we know so well that once helped us cope, but no longer serve our highest wellbeing.

For me, that pattern was always stimulants. Drugs and alcohol in my younger years. Then coffee, chocolate, raw cacao, or anything that would take me up and out of my body.

To sit with the discomfort within me felt unbearable.
But I wasn’t consciously choosing, I was reacting and regulating in the only way I knew how.

This is something I see again and again in my work.

When we are activated, when life feels intense, the body defaults to what it knows.
Not because we are weak. Not because we lack discipline. But because patterns wired in survival are so completely mechanical.

Then something shifts and we become aware.
With that awareness comes choice. And with choice comes responsibility.
Because once you see the pattern, you cannot unsee it.
You cannot unknow what you now know.

And yet, even with the deepest levels of awareness, there are still those moments when the old pull returns.

But stability amidst the storm is not about perfection.
It’s about awareness. It’s about willingness. It’s about staying with yourself long enough to choose differently. Gently, calmly, again and again.

Each time you choose wisely, you strengthen your personal power.
Each time you choose to stay instead of react, you loosen the grip of the old pattern and create stability from within.

This is the deeper work.

And so, I invite you to join me this Thursday.

To come back into your body.
To slow down.
To remember that stability is not something we find outside, it is something we cultivate from within.

Wishing you much love, health and happiness,
Rebecca
